1st John 5:21 tells us this: Dear children, keep away from anything that might take God's place in your hearts. (NIV). Do we get impressed & feel honored when someone the world has labeled as "important" gives us attention? If so & we are a Christian, we need to get a revelation of Who lives & resides in us. Has this particular Scripture, which is a command, gotten away from us? How about this? And He walks with me & He talks with me. Yes, He, Almighty GOD walks & talks with His children. Now that's impressive & nothing can top that!

Thirst, like newly- born infants, for pure milk for the soul, that by it you may grow up to salvation; Weymouth NT. Like new born babies, you must crave pure spiritual milk so that you will grow into a full experience of salvation. Cry out for this nourishment, New Living Translation - 1st Peter 2:2. Salvation, or being born again is a supernatural new birth that instantly, in the twinkling of an eye, causes our human spirit to become one with God through Jesus Christ. We have His DNA. Our mind & flesh, however is a progressive transformation. Having an earnest, passionate desire for the "sincere" milk of the Word brings the new birth from the inside to the outside, where we can bring God's Kingdom into this earth effectively.

If we approach God with a preconceived idea of who He is, we may not get Truth. Let me give you an example. When we lived in Saudi Arabia, we often went to the Red Sea for recreation. This particular day we saw a guy with an authentic hot dog stand on the beach. It had the red umbrella, it was exactly what one would see in down town New York or Chicago. My husband stopped the jeep & approached the cart, requested 3 hot dogs & headed back. When he returned he had 3 small cups of garbanzo beans. I said, "That's not a hot dog!" Oh it all looked like the real thing but friend, when you've had the real you'll know the phony.

Luke 5: 1 - 11 gives us a clear example of Simon giving access of his boat to Jesus. We often want what verses 6 - 11 tells us without giving Jesus access to what we have. It doesn't work like that. If we want the catch that is so overwhelming, we must make an investment. Does Jesus have access to all that we have? Are we willing to let him use what we have with a trust & assurance that goes far beyond our reasoning? Want the big catch? Make the big investment.

How we view ourselves has much to do with the path we take & where we end up in life. In the area of money, we often think, "If I just had more money." But the truth is more money, alone, won't fix a "lack" mentality. Let's say you go out to eat four times a week. You could increase your cash flow by packing a lunch, or eating at home. Got a twelve pack of beer in the fridge? Cigarettes in your pocket? That money could be well spent on a financial obligation you've got. Most times it's a mind problem & not a money problem. A priority problem, if you will. Changing our priorities can, many times, alleviate much of the self induced stress in our life. C'mon, we can do this & benefit from it. It's not hard...just hard on our flesh.

The Bible tells us. As a man thinks in his heart so is he. Today, society teaches the opposite. If we're late, it's the traffic's fault. If we're broke it's our bosses fault. If we're sick it's because someone sneezed around us. All those are excuses. Personal integrity, personal responsibility, personal accountability, personal discipline are pushed aside today to make room for blaming everyone else for our shortfalls, rather than looking in the mirror & asking God, "What do I need to change?" Perhaps the first place is with my opening statement. We do become what we think in our heart we are. Think you're poor? You are. Have you programmed your subconscious mind to be late? Then you are. Change your mind, change your life.

Tithing has always been a misunderstood subject but here are some basic truths.
1. When we tithe we take our money out of the world system or the kingdom of darkness & place it in the Kingdom of God.
2. Tithing is an act of worship, thankfulness & acknowledgement that God is our Only Source.
3. The tithe the first 10% of all God gives us.
4. When we tithe, God causes the remaining 90% to go further than the 100% could've gone.
5. By tithing, we invite Jesus Christ to be involved in our financial affairs.

In the Gospel of John 4:7-30; we read about a woman who went from relationship to relationship. Each one ending in disappointment. She thought she could find the perfect person to fill that void in her but to her dismay did not. Her reputation swept through the community & therefore she felt it necessary to go get her fresh water from the well in the hottest part of the day to avoid running into anyone else. Ah, but that day, at that well, she met the man of her dreams. Jesus Christ. He told her of her lifestyle but she wasn't offended but rather submitted to His infilling & went back & evangelized her entire community. We often do the same today. God created us with a void that only He can fill. Be made whole #before you enter into a relationship. Good thing she didn't settle for #yesterday's water.

He has put a new song in my mouth--Praise to our God; Many will see and fear, and will trust in the Lord. Psalm 40:3. This Scripture tells us that our genuine praise is something that can be seen. That it has the power to cause on lookers to obtain a reverential fear of the Lord. Perhaps you think you're not that kind of person. However, if you're a born again believer in Jesus Christ your demonstrated praise is like having a hand grenade inside of you. All you have to do is "PULL THE PIN!" Even the fragments that scatter leave people with a hunger to know our Living God. That praise is already in you. Don't let pride rob you & others of the affect of releasing it. PULL THE PIN!

Now the Lord said to Abram: "Get out of your country, from your family and from your father's house, to a land that I will show you." Genesis 12:1. The Bible teaches us that we are to count the cost before we commit with our lips. When we don't we find ourselves living a lifestyle that is no different from the world. Not separated at all from the world nor separated unto the Lord & His ways. The Lord told Abram to separate himself from his family & to the Lord. THEN, the Lord would show him a land that He had prepared for him. We often want the land without the separation but that doesn't work. Abram took Lot with him & he quickly learned he got pulled into some wickedness just because of disobedience. Let's learn a lesson from this. If the Lord said separate, then do it.

Jesus & His disciples had an assignment on the other side of the sea. That assignment never changed but they did have quite a time on their journey. The wind came up, the boat was tossed around. I imagine it began to fill up with water. The devil used all these sensual forces to distract them & the result of that was, "Master, don't you care?" Yes, He cares & the assignment remains the same. When the devil sends distractions, just "go through" so you can "get to" that assignment. Christianity is not a "feel good", "no trial" way of life. Go through without whining & questioning God's love for you. Go through to get to. Praise Him "in" all things.

There is none like you, O LORD; you are great, and your name is great in might. Jeremiah 10:6. If you think your situation is past the might, supernatural strength & intervention of the LORD...you'd be wrong & believing a lie. There is no name above the name of Jesus Christ. If you are willing to set your mind in cooperation with the mind of God & His thinking, He can turn the pathetic into the prophetic. You are for signs and wonders. Just yield to Him. Peace: Nothing missing. Nothing broken. Grab hold of it right now by faith. Believe it in your heart & confess it with your mouth.

Jesus never promised us that we would never go through a storm or that a storm would not come. He did, however, promise He'd be with us in the storm. Just because you're going through a storm doesn't mean He left you. Be certain you don't move away from Him causing your focus to change. When your focus remains on Him, His peace, you are assured of coming through to the other side. Remember, we do not have to have all the details to operate in faith.

Then God remembered Rachel, and God listened to her and opened her womb. And she conceived and bore a son, and said, "God has taken away my reproach." Genesis 30:22 - 23. In the Old Covenant it was a shameful thing for a woman to be barren. In the New Covenant a different kind of barrenness & fruit is made reference to. The fruit of the newly created spirit. It's still a reproach today for a Christian not to bear fruit, to be barren. Let the Bible be your mirror. When flaws show up, don't walk away without making the adjustment.

[Remember] this: he who sows sparingly and grudgingly will also reap sparingly and grudgingly, and he who sows generously [that blessings may come to someone] will also reap generously and with blessings. 2 Corinthians 9:6. The Church has heard much about sowing/giving. Sometimes through guilt. But we really need to learn what the Bible teaches concerning reaping. When we sow, it is a spiritual law set in motion that we shall reap. Not selfish, it's Bible.

And if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise. Galatians 3:29. We've been studying "The Abrahamic Covenant" in our last two lessons. The Scripture above is in the New Testament. If you are born again by the Blood of Jesus it would be beneficial for you to find out what promise you are heir to, wouldn't it? Thank God for the Blood of Jesus. This is what allows us to enter into the holy of holies & the promises.

Thus says the Lord, your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel: I am the Lord your God, who teaches you to profit, who leads you in the way that you should go. Isaiah 48:17. The world without God refers to organizations, institutions, charitable groups, as "nonprofit." Hmmm. That doesn't line up with anything we've been reading in the Bible lately, does it. Doesn't match this either. Let God be true and every man a liar. I believe I'll profit. Are you in?
